As a the manager of data science for the Advertising Measurement Research team within Amazon Ads, you will lead a team of data scientists and business intelligence engineers to deliver white papers and case studies. This research plays an influential role in determining the new measurement that we surface to advertisers.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead of team of scientists, business intelligence engineers, etc., on solving science problems with a high degree of complexity and ambiguity.
- Lead team members through the entire process of writing white papers, from the hypothesis stage to data extraction/organization, analyzing results, and communication of the results.
- Develop science roadmaps in collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Hire and develop top talent, provide technical and career development guidance to scientists and engineers in the organization.
- Lead team members to apply statistical and machine learning knowledge to specific business problems and data.
- Develop mechanisms to bar raise your team's work, including the science, engineering, and communication of the results through writing and clear visualizations.
- Conduct written and verbal presentations to share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.
- Do hands-on work as described above, as needed.
About the team
The Advertising Measurement Research team conducts meta-analyses across advertisers and verticals, with the purpose of developing an understanding of how our advertisersβ investment impacts their businesses, both on- and off-Amazon. To benefit customers directly, we develop case studies or white papers, offering advertisers a comprehensive view of emerging measurement trends and best practices. Also, our work influences new product features and metrics to build.
- 5+ years of building quantitative solutions as a scientist or science manager experience
- 2+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- 5+ years of applying statistical models for large-scale application and building automated analytical systems experience
- PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
- Knowledge of Python or R or other scripting language
- Experience in a least one area of Machine Learning (NLP, Regression, Classification, Clustering, or Anomaly Detection)
- Experience with fairness in machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect and remove bias in ML/AI systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
