About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Data Science to lead our Data Science team within the Marketplace division of MoneyLion. In this role, you will take ownership of a team that builds and optimizes high revenue, client facing predictive pricing and recommendation models. You will work closely with our Engineering and Research leads to streamline and optimize our model and data product development processes, own model performance and results within the marketplace, and build long term strategy for cutting edge model and data product development This is a unique opportunity to work with a high impact team that builds innovative data products that are at the edge of the leading consumer financial marketplace in the industry.

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Manage a team of data scientists, analysts and machine learning engineers, ensuring project alignment with business goals and timelines and supporting sprint management and execution.
  • Take ownership of a suite of high-revenue, real time pricing, filtering and recommendation models that are at the core of our consumer financial marketplace, with a relentless focus on performance optimization and revenue generation for the business
  • Work closely with the technical leads of the Research and Engineering pods of the team to develop strategy and tactical planning for future growth around model testing, deployment, rollout, observability and optimization.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and account management teams to successfully solve ongoing challenges and opportunities in our marketplace business.
  • Develop and optimize efficient operations, effective communication cycles and best practices for the team in order to build an effective and high performance team culture.
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and career growth.
  • Act as a thought leader in data science and AI within the organization, influencing strategy at the leadership level.

 

About You

 

  • Revenue focused mindset with a strong focus on quantitative performance optimization and practical applications of data science in a live business environment
  • Excellent communicator - ability to speak fluently with leadership as well as individual contributors in both technical and business domains
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful outcomes
  • A team player with a passion for both data products and predictive modeling, with a strong desire to grow and develop their team and themselves in these areas.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and being scrappy while balancing execution with perfection.
  • Experience with building and deploying real time ML models for business critical applications.
  • Experience working in analytics and data science, in particular working with data warehouses, analytics tools, specialized machine learning observability tooling and environments.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS preferred but not required), and has exposure to data science and software engineering best practices and culture (CI/CD, version control, continuous experimentation, etc).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, is preferred. 
  • Minimum 6-10 years experience working within the data science and/or AI space.
  • Minimum 3-4 years managing a high performing, client facing data science team.

The annual base salary for this role is between $180,000 - $190,000 per year with the addition of variable pay. Base salary is one component of MoneyLion's total compensation package, which includes, 401(k) match, multiple health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off for salaried positions. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.
