The role of Junior Information Security Analyst reports directly to the Manger of Incident Detection and Response. In the Junior Information Security Analyst role, you will be working to help build and maintain security programs at a rapidly growing investment company as well as its associated holdings. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Information/Cyber Security or applicable field. The candidate must possess a basic understanding of Information Security Information security practices, policies, and standards.
Responsibilities:
Monitor security event logs and alerts generated by various security technologies, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection systems.
Provide first-level analysis of security events, performing data analysis and correlation to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
Escalate and collaborate with SOC Analysts to ensure timely and effective incident response, resolution, and reporting.
Assist in preparing reports on security incidents, trends, and the processes of security controls for management
Recommend configuration changes to improve the performance, usability, and value of threat analysis tools.
Perform routine security maintenance tasks, such as metrics updates, daily checklists, phishing remediations and User Access Reviews.
Produce actionable intelligence in the form of reports, cases, notifications, and briefings
Assist in developing and continuously improving SOC processes and workflows to enhance detection and response capabilities and assist in the documentation of SOC processes.
Stay up to date on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methodologies to better identify and mitigate potential risks
Requirements:
Bachelors of Science in Information/Cyber Security or a related field.
0-2 years of experience in IT, networking, or cybersecurity is preferred but not required.
Possession of or ability to obtain entry level certifications in Information Security (SSCP, Security+, SEC401, SEC511).
Interpersonal and collaborative skills and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Strong curiosity, passion, and willingness to learn new technologies and security techniques
High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.
